Long Sleeved Color Blocked Dress

Naya Rivera in Michael Kors

Apparently I really like Michael Kors style. I saw a photo of actress Naya Rivera randomly online and took a screenshot of her neutral color blocked dress to sew it later. I tracked down who it was by and it was Michael Kors which makes this my third dress that I used for inspiration.

I love the train on Naya’s dress but it’s not really practical for my red carpet lacking life so I made the hemline straight instead. The biggest struggle I had was finding the same fabric in these three colors. I only had access to Joanne’s so I bought a less than ideal choice of fabric. I would have wanted it to be a little more stretchy for an easier sew and better fit.  In total my version cost me $10.78 after a couple coupons.

Wow nice job….I actually like yours better!

Very nice dress. You are more beautiful than the model you saw in this dress that inspired you. Hope your tour is going good and look forward to you getting back to your tiny house :(

I like yours better then hers/the designers and I also think you look much better in it than she does.

  4. Get outta here! $10.78! Really? OK, I give. I’m a cheap dog at heart and always wanted to try sewing my own clothes. When my sons start dropping babies, it would be nice to make good but cheap clothes for them as gifts. So, I’m going to swallow my self-consciousness and give it a shot. What kind of sewing machine do you use? Please don’t tell me you hand-stitch. BTW, your tiny houses and remodeling work is really inspiring also.

I have probably the cheapest model, it’s a brother brand, costs about $80, has just a few stitch options, weighs barely anything and never breaks!
